Ensuring Excellent Embroidery & Print Results

At Trade Embroidery, we understand the importance of delivering exceptional embroidered or printed garments to our valued customers. To ensure the best possible outcome for your custom embroidery or print orders, it’s crucial to supply artwork that meets our specific guidelines. In this blog post, we will walk you through the essential requirements and instructions for supplying artwork correctly:

Preferred File Formats: To ensure accurate representation and smooth production, we recommend providing your artwork in one of the following file formats: High resolution: AI, PDF, EPS, TIF, SVG, PNG, JPG, or BMP. These formats retain the necessary resolution and maintain the integrity of the design.

Vector Artwork: When possible, providing vector artwork is highly advantageous. Vector files, such as EPS or PDF, offer scalable graphics that can be resized without losing quality. They provide sharp edges and precise details, resulting in exceptional embroidery results.

Resolution and Image Quality: To achieve optimal embroidery results, it is essential to supply high-resolution images. We recommend a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) to ensure clarity and avoid pixelation. This ensures that your design translates seamlessly onto fabric.

Colours and Colour Matching: Because your design is being transferred from a digital on-screen representation to a physical, tangible product using a different method of reproduction, there will naturally be compromises in the shapes and colours of your design. To achieve an acceptable colour representation, for example, our production team will select colours and produce test prints within an acceptable range. Therefore, artwork needs to be supplied with reference to the specific colours used in your design. Please provide Pantone (PMS) colour codes whenever possible to ensure consistent and professional reproduction of your original design.

Size and Placement: Every product we offer has a designated print area. Typically, for designs embroidered or printed the following applies:

Front left/right pocket of a garment, the maximum print width is approximately 120mm.
Centre of a garment the maximum print width is approximately 300mm.
Arm or nape of neck, the maximum print width is approximately 90mm.

Our studio and production teams will always supply the dimensions and placement of your design in your artwork proof. Providing clear instructions on size helps us determine the appropriate embroidery hoop or area to accommodate your design. Consider the placement carefully, whether it’s on the front, back, or sleeves of a garment, to ensure your desired outcome.

Clear and Legible Text: If your design includes text, please make sure it is converted to outlines or shapes. This is to ensure your text is represented correctly as we cannot use artwork with missing fonts. With print being the exception, use fonts that are easy to read and avoid using small or intricate lettering for embroidery applications. Ensure that the text is large enough to be embroidered without losing its readability.

Artwork and Proofing: Before production begins, we will send you a proof of your design for you to review. However, not every service we offer provides a proof automatically, so it's important to check your requirements before placing an order. This proof allows you to visualise the final product and make any necessary adjustments or corrections. Reviewing and approving the artwork proof ensures that we proceed with embroidery or garment printing only when you are completely satisfied.

In Conclusion
by adhering to these artwork guidelines, you can ensure that your custom embroidery and print orders with Trade Embroidery result in stunning, high-quality products. Remember to provide your artwork in the preferred file formats, consider resolution and image quality, and communicate the desired colours, size, and placement accurately. Our goal is to deliver exceptional embroidery that exceeds your expectations, and your attention to these guidelines will help us achieve precisely that.
